The NCLEX refers to the National Council Licensure Examination. Registered Nurses must pass the NCLEX-RN to become licensed and work in the field. The Florida Board of Nursing has a portal for applying for nursing licensure and keeping updated on your RN requirements.
When you graduate from the SABER College nursing program, you will be qualified to take the NCLEX-RN. Passing this test is necessary to become a licensed nurse. You cannot work as a nurse without a license. Learn more about Florida's NCLEX-RN below.
Computer-based Exam
The exam is computer based. You will need to go to an approved testing facility to take the exam (unless a proctored home exam is available). The questions and scenarios will be on a computer and you will need to follow the submission instructions. Knowing how to use a computer is necessary for the NCLEX as well as for your job as a Registered Nurse.
LiveScan fingerprinting
RNs seeking licensure need to get an electronic LiveScan before the exam. The LiveScan service provider will need to send the scan to the Florida Board of Nursing for acceptance. You cannot send a copy of the scan yourself.
Authorization to Test (ATT)
Before you can register for the NCLEX, you have to get an Authorization To Test from the Florida Board of Nursing. Then you can schedule an exam with Pearson VUE, which administers the tests. Register for the exam and make sure to arrive on time for the appointment. Instructions for arrival and testing will be provided.
Pass or Fail
The NCLEX-RN is a pass or fail test. There are no percentages like you see in school. You either pass or fail the test. If you fail, you can retake the test after remedial training. NCLEX scoring uses something called logits that determines the difficulty and skill level the candidate had with answering a question.
SABER College’s nursing program gives you the knowledge and skills that you need for a nursing career. You will need to study for the exam to ensure that you are able to give your best effort.
