SABER College PTA Students and Faculty Move for a Cause at Moving Day Miami
At Moving Day Miami, hosted by the Parkinson’s Foundation on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Tropical Park Stadium, the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program at SABER College demonstrated its commitment to community, compassion, and movement. This annual walk, known as “A Walk for Parkinson’s”, unites individuals living with Parkinson’s disease, their families, caregivers, and supporters in a shared mission—to raise awareness and celebrate the power of movement.
For the SABER College PTA community, participation in this event represented much more than a walk. It was a hands-on opportunity to live out the program’s mission: to serve others, promote wellness, and advocate for mobility as a vital part of life and recovery. The activity also aligned with the celebration of #PTMonth, highlighting the essential role physical therapist assistants play in improving quality of life and restoring independence for patients across all stages of care.
A Day of Purpose and Connection
From the early morning hours, SABER students and faculty joined hundreds of participants at Tropical Park, wearing blue and carrying the energy of service and solidarity. They walked not just for awareness, but for impact—to show their support for the Parkinson’s Foundation and for the many families affected by Parkinson’s disease.
The Parkinson’s Foundation emphasizes that Moving Day is more than just a fundraising event; it’s a nationwide movement to celebrate the importance of exercise in managing Parkinson’s symptoms and improving mobility. For the students of SABER College, this resonated deeply. Movement is at the heart of their discipline, and through this initiative, they could apply classroom principles to real-life advocacy—understanding firsthand how physical activity empowers patients to maintain independence and confidence.
Integrating Education, Service, and Professional Growth
SABER College’s Physical Therapist Assistant Associate in Science (A.S.) Program provides a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, therapeutic procedures, and rehabilitation techniques. Under the guidance of experienced faculty, students are trained to assist licensed physical therapists in helping patients recover from injuries, improve mobility, and manage chronic conditions.
Community participation is a vital component of the program. Through service projects like Moving Day Miami, students strengthen their communication, teamwork, and leadership skills while building empathy and civic responsibility. Each event reinforces the human side of healthcare—reminding future PTAs that every patient’s progress begins with a single step, and every act of service builds trust within the community.
“Experiential learning is a cornerstone of our approach,” shared the faculty team during event reflections. “When students engage with real-world causes like Parkinson’s awareness, they see how their future careers directly influence lives. It transforms theory into purpose.”
Commitment to the Parkinson’s Community
The Parkinson’s Foundation Moving Day events take place across the country, generating crucial funds for research, patient care, and public education. Each walk symbolizes unity and hope, reminding participants that progress is powered by people coming together for a shared goal.
By joining the Miami event, the SABER College PTA team contributed to raising awareness and supporting the Foundation’s mission to improve care and advance research toward a cure. Their presence reflected the college’s broader educational philosophy—training healthcare professionals who not only master technical skills but also lead with empathy, service, and civic pride.
The SABER Difference
At SABER College, education extends beyond textbooks. The PTA program emphasizes professional integrity, patient-centered care, and community outreach as essential components of the learning experience. Students graduate not only ready to pass their licensure exam but prepared to make meaningful contributions in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, outpatient clinics, and long-term care facilities.
Participation in Moving Day Miami underscored that philosophy in action. For SABER students and faculty, each mile walked represented a promise—to move, to serve, and to keep making a difference.
As we celebrate #PTMonth, we honor the dedication of our students and the faculty who guide them. Together, they exemplify the spirit of service that defines SABER College and the profession of physical therapy itself.
