Required training
Physical Therapist Assistants have to be trained by approved training providers. The PTA Program at SABER College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). As a student in the PTA Program, you will gain the training that is required for licensing.
The program is two years long and awards an Associate of Science degree upon successful completion. Not only will you have received the required Physical Therapist Assistant training, you also have a 2-year college degree that can serve as a basis for further education at a 4-year institution if desired.
Licensing exam
The next requirement for becoming a Physical Therapist Assistant in Florida is taking and passing the licensing exam. For Physical Therapist Assistants, this exam is the National Physical Therapy Examination for PTA.

Apply for Florida licensing
After completing the PTA program and passing the licensing exam, you can now apply for Florida licensing with the Florida Board of Physical Therapy. The process generally takes 1-3 days.
