Applying for the Physical Therapist Assistant degree program is the first step toward achieving your goals. You will need proof of high school education or GED, transcripts, and a score on the TABE Test at the 11.0 level in mathematics, language, and reading.

What to expect in the PTA degree program
The Commission accredits the Physical Therapist Assistant degree program on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). Students take 76 credit hours and will be eligible to take the National Physical Therapy Examination for PTA to become licensed PTA.
Students will complete 5 semesters of courses that cover general education, medical and physical therapy foundations, and physical therapist assistant core knowledge and skills. Each semester, students take 5 courses in the PTA program.
General education courses include English I and II and Applied Mathematics. Students also take foundational medical courses like Human Anatomy and Physiology I and Applied Medical and Healthcare Terminology.
Physical therapist assistant core courses include Introduction to Physical Therapist Assistant, Therapeutic Procedures I and II, Pathophysiology, and Tests and Measurements. There are also clinical for hands-on experience with the concepts learned in the theory sections.
The last course in the program is the Review Course for NPTAE. Prepare for taking and passing this course’s National Physical Therapy Examination for PTA.
